GROUP GUIDANCE NOTES FOR SCHOOL / GROUP LEADERS

1. MEDICAL CONDITIONS & INFORMATION

If you or any person within your group have not provided the relevant medical details on the attached medical declaration form prior to arrival please ensure you bring this to the attention of the Centre Manager or in his absence the Chief Instructor.
Can you please identify also if you or any of your party is a non-swimmer.

2. RESPONSIBILITIES

Wight Water staff will be responsible for the safe conduct of all on water activities from the issue of wetsuits until clients are out of the water and changing.
School party / group leaders remain responsible for there party or parties on site before activity commences and after activity finishes. At least 2 group leaders should remain on site at all times to undertake the following responsibility.
(a) To maintain discipline and order amongst those persons not taking part or finishing the on water activity early.
(b) In the event of an accident requiring a visit to hospital a party leader must be available to accompany casualty to hospital. They should also have the injured party’s correct medical information and address etc from the medical form. (A copy of this is available in the watersports office)
(c) To be responsible for the group or individuals personal valuables. We do provide lockers but cannot guarantee safety.

3. ACTIVITIES

Our Splash session is advertised as a multi activity programme, and we endeavour to ensure that all clients and groups enjoy the variety of activities within this programme. However we need to point out that some activities may be delayed or cancelled due to weather conditions, sea state or other reasons. This does not entitle you or your group to a rebate except in the event of a session or sessions being cancelled completely. A full refund will only be provided to the group if no other activity is possible that day and it proves impossible to re schedule to another date.

4. CLOTHING

We will supply a wet suit and buoyancy to each individual who is participating in an on water activity. Please note that we will not provide any footwear, so it is recommended that the party leader ensures that all of their group has some form of appropriate footwear, i.e. wetsuit shoes or a pair of old trainers. Please ensure your group checks their changing rooms for clothing and personal belongings before departure. While every effort is made to store lost clothing we cannot be held responsible for items left behind.

5. ABLUTIONS

There are no toilets on site. All visiting school parties and individuals are advised to use the public toilets 5 minutes walk from the centre prior to arrival on site. These are situated along the sea wall at Lake Slipway if walking from Sandown; on Sandown Esplanade at the bottom of Hope Road if walking from Shanklin; and on Lake Green adjacent to the bridge if parking on the cliff top at Winchester House Car Park.
(Take the cliff exit and turn left towards Sandown on the cliff path to reach the Green).
